Ellie is a New Orleans native with a passion for helping people! Here’s what we learned about her:
What’s your favorite thing about your work?
I enjoy the fact that I get to build a relationship with the people being treated, to measurably watch their progress, and witness the joy they experience when they can return to doing the things that they love.
What’s one thing not many people know about you?
I rode in a helicopter for airmed twice as an EMT. Oh, and I have a motorcycle, or as my mother calls it, a donor-cycle.
What makes you laugh the most?
My finaceé.
What are you working to improve?
I’m currently working towards improving my discipline, in every aspect of my life. I think it’s an important skill to develop. Unfortunately, no one tells you it takes discipline to develop discipline. Go figure.
Who is your hero?
If you asked my family, they would say the moon. When I was a child, I told everyone that I was going to become an astronaut so I could marry the moon. Now? I would say that I try to be my own hero. It doesn’t always work, but I would say that it keeps me humble.
What would you sing at Karaoke night?
Caroline by OutKast.
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Hmm. I would have to go with salad. They’re so versatile, and yes, I would consider a taco salad a salad still. And I guess wine is still a fruit salad, technically…
What makes you feel accomplished?
I feel most accomplished when I create something from scratch. It could be a meal, something that I’ve written, a home improvement project. Recently, I have been focusing on growing and nurturing plants.
How do you spend your time outside work?
I try to do as much as I can. I like to write, read, hike, and explore new places as often as possible, preferably with a friend or on my motorcycle. Lately, it has been a lot of wedding planning, but that’ll wind down soon enough.
What’s a skill you’d like to learn?
Jiu Jitsu. I am planning on enrolling in a jiu jitsu gym in a couple months. And backpacking.
